Spring Quarter Information
The P.A.S.S. Centers will continue to provide students with quality tutoring and mentoring support in an online environment. Our offices will remain accessible by phone, email, and through our P.A.S.S. Canvas course.
Students will be able to meet with tutors and mentors, schedule appointments, and explore resources through our new Canvas space. Tutoring and mentoring sessions will be conducted in Cranium Café using webcams and microphones to make the experience as seamless as possible. We are working to offer expanded hours and resources. More details to come as the quarter gets closer. Should you have questions, feel free to call or email our offices. We are here to help you through this unique quarter, just let us know how we may be of service.

Even the brightest, most successful college students need a boost from time to time. Because each person learns differently, Pierce College offers a variety of academic support services to meet individual needs of our students.
Using one-on-one assistance from fellow students, peer tutoring provides free individualized assistance across a number of subject areas. Peer tutors are faculty recommended, proficient in their subject matter and extensively trained in the art of learning, but still approachable, relatable and welcoming.
This option is for students who prefer to study more independently, at their own pace and on a flexible schedule, but who appreciate having tutors and resources available when they need extra help. We have drop-in tutors on a varied schedule in math, physics, chemistry and biology. Math tutoring is also available in our new Math Center in the Rainier Building, RAI 338. Drop-in tutoring is also available on post at JBLM, Monday through Thursday in the Stone Education Center.
This option is best for students preferring more one-on-one, comprehensive tutoring. Appointment tutoring is available in any subject Pierce College offers (if not currently on staff, every effort is made to recruit a tutor in the needed subject). Each student is entitled to two 50-minute sessions per week for each class they are taking. The tutors can also help students identify their preferred learning style, develop more effective study habits and time management skills, and provide them with the academic tools for success.
Group tutoring is an effective study technique especially in the areas of science and world languages. Our center provides tutors to facilitate group study sessions, guiding the sessions to provide maximum efficiency and to act as a resource in the subject matter.
